Letters To Sally has been officially selected in the Clare Valley Film Festival.
This is the festival’s inaugural year and will be screening both Australian and international films on Saturday 23 January, 2010.
Here are a few comments from the judges:
“There is an incredible diversity of entries from all over the world – short comedies from Germany, experimental films from the UK, and social justice shorts from the US. It’s been a pleasure to watch these mini masterpieces.”
Fiona Gunn, National Film and Sound Archive, ACT
“The fabulous entries in the Clare Valley Film Festival not only take us from coastal England through urban Turkey to inner city Australia they also present us with a full spectrum of views of human nature: comic, poignant, tragic and absurd using the formats of drama, documentary and mime. The film makers are all talented and committed revealing an extraordinary wealth of ideas.”
Rob George, Prospect Productions, Vic

With near torrential rain on Friday night, all we could do was hope. At 7:30am Saturday morning, I was greeted by bright blue skies and drying roads. The texts went out. We’re wrapping production on this short.
Upon arriving at Wynyard station at 9:00am, I had a lead actor still in bed and rain coming down hard with little signs of easing. I met Brad (DOP) and the decision was made at 9:30am. Shoot is cancelled. Perhaps we can do the voice over at Luke’s?
A short drive away proved that might not be possible. The house Luke was staying at had a bigger echo than Jenolan Caves. There was only thing to do. Coffee and omlettes.
Thirty minutes later we had bright sunshine and spotless skies. There was much scratching of heads. We raced into the city and began shooting. Whenever it rained, we hid under bus shelters or palm trees. Whenever passers-by asked why Luke was lying on the street with an envelope in his hand, he merely smiled and pointed at two guys holding a camera and boom mic.
Eventually we wrapped in the Botannical Gardens and ate Maccas to celebrate. Photos from the weekend will be posted shortly and editing will begin this week.
